It all started when…

Andrew Giacon’s grandfathers Luigi Giacon and Giovanni Battista came to New Zealand from Italy in the 1920’s. They provided much of the terrazzo in our beautiful Art Deco town of Napier after the earthquake there. Andrew’s family have continued to make terrazzo in New Zealand ever since.

His Father Fred Giacon had a factory in Henderson for many years. His company was called Modtezz.

That’s 100 years of terrazzo history in NZ.

Andrew and Adrienne Giacon live in Point Chevalier, Auckland. They love family, great food, walks in nature, ancient archaeology and aesthetic design.

Andrew is the terrazzo expert, he lives and breathes terrazzo. Collects stones wherever he sees them and follows everything in terrazzo design with a passion. Andrew loves to create beautiful terrazzo. He is a keen golfer.

Adrienne is Maori and Samoan and is passionate about working in a way that we can leave the planet a better place. She is always looking for ways to recycle, and make things more sustainable for the generations to come. Adrienne enjoys philosophy, researching ancient cultures and visiting beautiful places on our planet.

Our team are like an extended family- and we like it that way.

We love the great New Zealand outdoors, and have had the privilege of providing terrazzo and precast elements in many of our civic projects; Aotea Square, Auckland University, Wynyard Quarter, Auckland War Memorial Museum. This spurs us on further in our commitment to continue to make decisions that makes our product greener and more sustainable wherever we can.
